2 Timothy 4:6-8 — Paul describes himself as being poured out as a drink offering, anticipating his imminent death
Pauline text indicating Paul's awareness of and preparation for his own martyrdom
2 Timothy 4:6-8: "I am already being poured out as a drink offering and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Paul uses the OT sacrificial imagery of a drink offering to describe his life being given up. Mike notes this as an example of Paul applying OT sacrificial categories metaphorically to Christian life — relevant also to Mike's engagement with the Hebrew Roots movement.
