John 13:34 — Jesus gives a "new commandment" to love one another, which becomes the defining law of the New Covenant
The law of Christ defined
Jesus in John 13:34 says, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." This is the law of Christ—the heart of the New Covenant written on believers' hearts (Jeremiah 31). All the Mosaic commandments can be distilled into this self-sacrificial love. The New Covenant gives a new commandment, not an extension of the full Mosaic Code.
