Objection and response: the pronoun shift in Ezekiel 26 and Zechariah 9
Addressing the objection that the plural pronoun in Ezekiel 26 still refers only to Nebuchadnezzar.
Objection: the "they" pronoun in Ezekiel 26 refers to Nebuchadnezzar throughout. McLatchie's response: Zechariah 9 also prophesies the destruction of Tyre by fire — written during the reign of Darius, which is several decades after Nebuchadnezzar's siege (confirmed by the timestamp in Zechariah 7:1). This corroborates that a future destruction beyond Nebuchadnezzar was in view. Alexander the Great destroyed Tyre by fire in 332 BC.
