Bayesian approach: fine-tuning evidence favors theism over atheism
McLatchie articulates a Bayesian argument: the fine-tuning evidence is far more expected on theism than on atheism.
Even granting the most generous probability estimates to chance-based explanations for each fine-tuned parameter, the probability of all these constants being precisely set for life is vastly lower on atheism than on theism. A designer who intended a life-permitting universe would be expected to produce one; unguided physics would not. This Bayesian argument means the fine-tuning evidence constitutes strong positive evidence for theism.
