Undesigned coincidence within Luke: women from Galilee thread through Luke 8, 23, and 24
McLatchie presents an intra-Gospel undesigned coincidence within Luke demonstrating the authentic, non-fabricated character of the resurrection narrative.
Luke 8:2-3 introduces women from Galilee who followed Jesus (including Mary Magdalene and Joanna, wife of Chuza — Herod's household manager, confirming they are from Galilee). Luke 23:55 mentions the women who came from Galilee observing the burial, but does not name them. Luke 24:10 names Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary mother of James at the empty tomb — yet Mary mother of James was not in the Luke 8 list, and Susanna (from Luke 8) is not in Luke 24. The lists partially overlap but don't match, indicating Luke isn't simply copying from his own earlier list. He appears to name the women he actually knows were present on Easter morning. This subtle non-deliberate consistency within a single Gospel is an internal undesigned coincidence pointing to the authentic historical core of the empty tomb tradition.
