Universal atonement motivates evangelism; limited atonement undermines the sincere gospel call

Limited Atonement, Universalism and why I disagree with both. 00:14:57 – 00:16:28

Winger argues that Paul's evangelistic appeal in 2 Corinthians 5 flows directly from universal atonement and is inconsistent with limited atonement.

Paul uses the fact that Jesus paid for everyone as the basis for urging people to be reconciled. Under limited atonement, the evangelist cannot truthfully say 'Jesus died for you' to a non-elect person, because Jesus may not have died for them. This undermines the sincerity and intelligibility of the gospel call. Winger notes that even Calvinists who evangelize find themselves in an awkward position on this point.
