Good derives from God's nature; evil is the contrast to God's goodness, requiring permission not creation
Positive account of where good and evil come from
Goodness is not something God created; it is what God is. God does not derive goodness from outside himself — he is the Good. Because God is good, goodness is a permanent feature of reality. Evil therefore does not need to be created; it needs only to be permitted. When a being with free will acts contrary to God's goodness, that is evil. Evil does not require creation, only permission.
