Three biblical causes of natural evil: divine judgment, spiritual warfare, and the greater good

Scripture presents at least three causes for natural evil: (1) Judgment on sin — seen throughout Old and New Testaments; (2) Spiritual warfare — illustrated by the book of Job, where Job's suffering was not due to his sin but due to spiritual conflict; (3) The greater good — illustrated by John 9:1-3, where the man born blind had not sinned nor had his parents, but was blind so that the works of God might be made manifest.
