Early NT manuscripts (P75, P66) abbreviate stauros with Tau-Rho symbol depicting a cross with crossbeam

Did Jesus Die on a Cross or a Stake? Here's the Evidence. 00:16:14 – 00:18:45

In some of the earliest New Testament manuscripts, the Greek word stauros is abbreviated using the letters Tau (T) and Rho (P-shape), superimposed on each other to form a visual symbol. This combination appears to depict a man on a cross with a crossbeam.

P75 (Bodmer Papyrus) and P66 (possibly as early as 200 AD) both use this Tau-Rho (staurogram) abbreviation for stauros. The combined symbol — a capital T with a capital P overlaid — creates what appears to be an image of a person hanging on a cross with a crossbeam. Christians copying Scripture would not have drawn a torture-stake; they drew what they knew.
