Parachute analogy: three men jumping from a plane with a spacesuit, super suit, and parachute
Illustration to make vivid why "all religions work on their own terms" is nonsense
Three men jump from an airplane: one wears a spacesuit believing he will float upward; one wears a Superman suit believing he will fly; one brings a parachute because he believes he will fall and there is only one way to survive. The pluralist position is equivalent to saying all three outcomes — floating up, flying, and surviving the fall — will happen for each person. This is "utter nonsense" that is obvious once the stakes are made concrete. Most people, when pressed, will concede that not all religions work on their own terms.
