Scriptural language about things not being "remembered" in heaven means no bitter grief, not literal loss of memory

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 1) 00:02:37 – 00:04:09

Side note during the heaven/marriage question, addressing a teaching that people will have no memories in heaven based on Isaiah.

Some teach that people will have no memories in heaven, citing Isaiah where "former things will not be remembered." Mike argues this is a misreading — the Hebrew context means these memories will not weigh you down bitterly, not that you cannot recall them. Evidence: (1) How could you thank God for saving you if you have no memory of it? (2) In Revelation, martyred saints in heaven call on God to avenge their deaths — proving they remember their martyrdom. The comfort is not amnesia but the removal of bitterness and pain associated with hard memories.
