Question: Does Scripture authorize only one physical cup during the Lord's Supper?

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 5) 00:11:42 – 00:13:15

Q&A question from Andrej about eucharistic practice

The Last Supper includes a cup, and the Passover meal structure includes multiple cups (first cup, final cup). Mike notes that in a multi-course meal, a "dish" refers to a type of food, not one plate for all; similarly, "the cup" likely refers to a shared type of cup, not a single vessel. He finds no convincing evidence that only one physical cup per service is required.
