Advice for young ministers: root out pride continually — comparing yourself to other ministers is a major red flag

Pride is the enemy of ministry. One of its key signs is viewing fellow ministers as competition. Humility in theology means being willing — even delighted — to discover you were wrong as you study. Young preachers also fall into the trap of either trying to please the crowd or constantly convict the crowd (pushing prayer, giving, repentance into every study). The call is to teach the truth of the passage, not a good sermon.
