Unconditional Election — Mike partly affirms, partly rejects

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 8) Fixed and Reuploaded 00:07:06 – 00:09:10

Second point of TULIP addressed.

Mike says he could affirm Unconditional Election if it simply meant we are saved by grace apart from works, since faith is not a work — one does not earn salvation by believing. However, Calvinist Unconditional Election specifically denies that God considers anyone's free will choices (including their faith/belief) when selecting who will be saved. It also excludes Molinist possible/feasible worlds distinctions. Mike rejects this because it effectively denies humans have a real free will choice to accept or reject Christ. He briefly mentions Molinism and middle knowledge as an alternative framework.
