NWT translators' identities were kept secret; a former JW leader revealed they were not qualified

The JW organization never disclosed who translated the NWT, claiming humility but actually concealing unqualified translators. A major leader who left the organization revealed the translators' names. Greek scholars who examined the NWT concluded it looks like "first-year Greek students with a theological axe to grind." This supports the charge that the NWT is driven by theology, not scholarship.
