Matthew 26:46 — Jesus voluntarily walks forward into betrayal and crucifixion

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 9) 00:20:58 – 00:22:00

Question from Hunter Clyce about Matthew 26:46.

"Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand." Jesus says this in the Garden of Gethsemane as Judas approaches with the guard. The interpretive point is that Jesus knew he was going to be betrayed, could have escaped, but chose to walk forward into it. Jesus is in full control even on the way to the cross — the crucifixion is voluntary.
