Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) — a warning about authentic faith, not about percentages of saved vs. unsaved

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 9) 00:22:00 – 00:25:34

Question from Gloria Urban about whether Matthew 25:1-13 teaches that half the church will not be saved.

Mike argues the parable is a warning to all who call themselves followers of Christ to ensure they are truly waiting and ready. The oil likely represents the Holy Spirit (an indwelling relationship with God), not good works — because oil cannot be shared (salvation cannot be transferred). The foolish virgins had the external position of waiting but lacked the internal reality. Mike rejects the idea that the 5/5 ratio teaches a literal 50% salvation rate; parables don't give percentages (the four soils don't mean 25% are saved). The point is the warning itself.
