Mike argues Christians have genuine freedom in this area. Both singleness and marriage are good. Singleness is better for ministry; marriage is good for character formation and companionship. He frames it as choosing a scenic route vs. direct route — both lead to the same destination. He personally chose to get married knowing it would mean less ministry time. He cautions against framing singleness as 'the gift of singleness' when the real motivation is disappointment or despair about finding a spouse.
