Keeping faith private: a private relationship with God signals shame or embarrassment, not genuine privacy
Question from Dusty Matthew about a friend who says faith is a private matter.
Mike argues that relationships kept private are almost always ones we are embarrassed about, afraid to reveal, or ambivalent about. If someone is not excited to discuss their relationship with Christ, the more likely explanation is shame, not a preference for privacy. Analogy: posting a celebrity photo on social media vs. not mentioning Jesus. He references Matthew 10:33 / Luke 12:9 — 'if you deny me before men, I will deny you before my Father.'
