All believers are indwelt by the Spirit at salvation, but degrees of Spirit-filling differ among believers

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 11) 00:37:53 – 00:40:24

Responding to a question from Sarah P about whether salvation and Spirit baptism are the same event

Mike's view: genuine conversion includes indwelling of the Holy Spirit -- believers are in union with God immediately upon genuine faith. But there is also a distinct category of being 'filled with the Spirit' that admits of degrees. Evidence: Acts 6 requires the seven deacons to be 'full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom' -- meaningless if all believers were equally filled. Peter is described as being filled with the Spirit on multiple occasions (end of John, Acts 2, and later events).
