Mike argues Christian liberty is uniquely grounded in God's authority surpassing the state. Atheism has no higher authority than government, so principled resistance is philosophically groundless for an atheist. Christians answer to God above all powers, which is why early Christians refused emperor worship and why COVID-era church gathering debates were legitimate theological discussions, not mere rebellion.
