1 Peter 3:1 says a wife's godly conduct MAY win her husband — not that it WILL — preserving his moral agency

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 17) 00:39:16 – 00:41:19

Careful reading of 1 Peter 3:1 regarding wives with unbelieving or disobedient husbands

1 Peter 3:1 — "so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives." The operative word is "may" (not "will"). This is hope, not a formula. Mike notes that Sarah calling Abraham "lord" was culturally appropriate in the ancient Near East — it meant he wore the pants in the family, carried final authority in the household — but does not translate to modern English usage.
