Re-baptism is not prescribed in Scripture but can be appropriate when the original baptism lacked genuine understanding

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 17) 01:19:14 – 01:21:15

Question from Andrew Green about whether re-baptisms are biblical

There are no examples in the New Testament of someone being baptized twice in the name of Christ. Making re-baptism routine (e.g., after every season of backsliding) creates an unhealthy church culture and may imply an insufficient view of grace. However, if someone's original baptism was purely ritualistic and they now want to be baptized with genuine understanding and faith, Mike would baptize them. This alleviates real anxiety about their past and gives a clear marker. The key concern: don't create a culture where re-baptism is routine.
