Mike describes the Ark of the Covenant with its two cherubim — angels present in the worship space but never worshipped. The center was empty space where God's glory dwelt. This is the model: worship directed at nothing physical, only God directly. Practical warning: even directing worship at a cross on a wall or holding a Bible superstitiously can corrupt proper worship direction. The only mediator is Jesus Christ himself.
