Shield of Faith — confident trust that quenches fiery darts
Fourth piece of armor: faith as shield against fiery trials and spiritual attacks.
Ephesians 6:16: 'in all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.' Mike connects this with 1 Peter's fiery trials that test faith, producing patience, character, and hope. Faith here is not faith without evidence but confident trust — 'I have reasons to believe and I choose to trust you, Lord.' This shield quenches both external persecution and internal spiritual turmoil/doubt caused by spiritual warfare.
