Mike recommends a youth pastor or trusted adult (not parent) take the teen out to lunch, express love and no anger, then dig into the reasons. At 16, atheism is often motivated by the desire for freedom from sexual and moral constraints, not by intellectual argument. If there are no solid reasons, there are only motives.
