Should a Christian woman avoid having children because her future children might reject Christ and go to hell?
Question from Susan about a friend afraid to have children for fear they will go to hell.
Winger identifies this as fear-driven, not biblically grounded reasoning. God himself takes the risk of creating people who may reject him — and deems it worth it. Good parenting prepares children to make their own choices; it does not shield them from the freedom to choose. Robbing someone of the ability to make choices is itself wrong. The value of a person freely choosing to follow Christ is so high that the risk of them choosing wrongly is worth it. Winger also gently suggests exploring whether other reasons (fear of parenthood, lifestyle, etc.) might be underlying the stated theological concern.
