Will sins be publicly exposed at the Bema Seat judgment?
Question from The Potter's Daughter about 1 Cor 5:10 and Luke 12:2-3 and whether sins are publicly disclosed before being forgiven.
Winger looks at Luke 12:2-3 ("nothing hidden that will not be revealed; what is whispered in secret will be proclaimed on housetops") and notes it is primarily directed at the unsaved (warning against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees), though it may have application to the saved as well. The Bema seat (bema — the Greek term for judgment seat) is a judgment for rewards for believers. A popular teaching holds that all deeds will be publicly replayed for everyone in heaven to see; Winger finds this possible but not definitive from Scripture. The alternative reading: "nothing covered" means God himself will know everything (omniscient accountability), not that it will be broadcast to all. If public, the effect would ultimately be to magnify the grace of God as all see how much has been forgiven.
