The Aaronic priesthood is a sub-class within the Levites — specifically descendants of Aaron, Moses's brother and Israel's first high priest. Aaronites held the highest-ranking priestly roles, including entering the tabernacle itself for the most sacred sacrificial duties. All Aaronic priests are Levites, but not all Levites are Aaronic priests. All of these roles prefigure Christ.
