Dancing is not inherently sinful; Christians should apply liberty-with-responsibility rather than blanket prohibition.

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 31) 00:14:21 – 00:18:25

Question 4 from Kate for Christ about the biblical basis for viewing dancing as sinful.

Dancing, like alcohol, is not inherently sinful but can become sinful through abuse. People condemn dancing because they react to its abuses rather than the act itself. The biblical pattern for these issues is to grant liberty while teaching responsibility. David danced before the Lord (2 Samuel 6) with minimal clothing — this was celebration, not sexual. The church should not condemn innocent behavior just because it can become abusive.
