Paul's sonship metaphor concerns status — belonging and inheritance in Christ. Westfall's choir metaphor concerns function — what roles different members play. His is about status of being in Christ; hers is about different functions within Christ. Analogies are helpful but slippery because they get you to picture things a certain way before you have established those things to be the case.
