Westfall's equivalence claim: male/female parallels Jew/Greek in the same ways
Mike engages Westfall's key methodological claim.
Westfall states (in italics for emphasis): 'We may confidently conclude that the ways and contexts in which there is no male and female inside him will correspond to the ways and contexts that Paul is talking about in Galatians in which there is no Jew or Greek inside him.' Mike agrees with this statement but denies it makes the verse about roles in the church, because the Jew/Greek issue in Galatians was never about roles in the church either. Limiting to Paul's application actually undermines the egalitarian case.
