Conclusion: Mark 11 teaches new-covenant prayer through Christ, accessed by faith (not works). Real faith believes both for miracles AND in suffering when God says no. The harder path of faith is trusting God's "no."

Summary of the full teaching on prayer from Mark 11 and 14
Mark teaches: (1) Prayer works in the new covenant — the temple is gone, but you have direct access to God through Christ; (2) It's based on faith, not works — grace-based, not earned; (3) Hindered by sin and unforgiveness; (4) Miracle-faith is initiated by God, responded to by you; (5) Real faith also believes when the answer is no — God's will includes temporary suffering (Mark 14, 1 Peter 4:19). The harder path: "It's easier to believe God for healing than to believe when you know he could and he has said no." Jesus in Gethsemane is the model for trusting in anguish you can't explain. Pastoral word to those influenced by Word of Faith teaching: the convincing that God will heal should come from the Holy Spirit, not from you or Kenneth Copeland. "Take the anxiety out of your prayer."
