Five conclusions: (1) medical thought supports authority; (2) Paul's context implies authority; (3) church history supports authority; (4) lexical study strongly supports authority; (5) egalitarian claims are often problematic
Mike presents his five summary conclusions for the video.
Conclusion 1: Common medical thought in NT times supports head as implying authority/control. Conclusion 2: Paul's metaphorical and contextual use of head for both Jesus and husbands implies authority very clearly. Conclusion 3: Church history supports headship implying authority; Chrysostom quotes taken out of context don't change this. Conclusion 4: Lexical study of kephale 'super strongly' supports that it implies authority. Conclusion 5: Egalitarian claims are 'often very problematic' — Mike wanted to be egalitarian going in but the evidence moved him the other direction.
