Mike corrects the misconception that love and non-abuse were Paul's innovations.
The ancient culture also valued love in marriage (contrary to some scholars' claims) and many moralists and ethicists taught against husbands abusing wives. Paul elevated these beyond the culture's standard but didn't invent them. Mike also notes biblical love is a command/action, not an involuntary feeling.
