Biblical reasons for slave obedience: purely situational, not creation-grounded
Mike examines what the NT actually says about why slaves should obey.
Reasons for slave obedience: (1) you're a slave -- it's your situation, (2) serve as unto Christ in whatever situation you're in, (3) it adorns the doctrine of God (Titus 2:9-10) -- same witness motive, doesn't make it transcultural. Ephesians 6:5-8 tells slaves HOW to serve but never WHY they ought to be slaves. Slavery is not grounded in creation, race, or anything intrinsic. 'All mankind comes from Adam and Eve' -- there's no creation basis for slavery.
