Belleville's two claims about Miriam: she was 'sent to lead' Israel (Micah 6:4) and was so valued Israel wouldn't travel without her 'at the helm' (Numbers 12:1-16).

Presenting the egalitarian case for Miriam's leadership
Belleville argues (pp. 51-52): (1) Miriam was sent by the Lord to 'lead' Israel per Micah 6:4, and (2) she was held in such high regard that Israel would not travel until she was back 'at the helm' per Numbers 12:1-16. Belleville says Micah 6:4 shows Miriam's role was historically understood as a leadership role by the community of faith centuries later. Mike will analyze both claims.
