Women's participation in early church was countercultural but distinctly Christian
Mike discusses the contrast with Jewish and Greco-Roman culture.
In the early church, any woman could pray or prophesy and participate in services with some limitations. This was much more participation than found in the ancient world where women were mostly non-participant observers. Mike prefers to call this 'Christian' rather than 'modern' or 'countercultural' to avoid anachronism.
