Verses 11-12: mutual dependence balances headship -- not refutation but nuance

All The Head Covering Debates (1 Cor 11): Women in Ministry part 10 00:37:51 – 00:39:52

Mike explains the 'however' of verses 11-12 in the traditional view.

The two main complaints about authority differences (devalues women, leads to abuse) are addressed by Paul. Consistent with Ephesians 5 (husband love self-sacrificially), 1 Peter 3 (honor wife as co-heir or prayers hindered). Verses 11-12 add mutual dependence: woman originates from man in creation, but man has birth through woman. Different roles, mutual needs. Mike prefers 'complementarity' over 'patriarchal' as a term.
