Question 7: What is Paul's point about creation order and purpose in verses 8-9?
Mike addresses the most decisive question for the complementarian/egalitarian debate.
Two different truths: verse 8 (origin -- woman from man, highlighted as NOT the reverse) and verse 9 (purpose -- man was NOT created for woman's sake but woman for man's sake). This is Paul's Holy Spirit-inspired interpretation of Genesis 2. Verses 7-10 form a unit: application on the bookends (v.7 man should not cover, v.10 woman should) with reasons in the middle (vv.8-9).
