If not how is it fair that someone innocent suffers directly from the hand of God? This is not the just God that I am familiar with, what am I missing here?
There is a way to understand the text with the exact words used that can help us to understand what God was doing to the woman and why it was not a punishment. Your questions are very worthwhile questions and deserve a whole post to address them. I will try to get to it either next post of the one after that.
