The disjunctive particle 'e' reinforces rather than refutes what precedes it, shown from Romans 3:28-29

Mike demonstrates how the Greek particle functions using Romans 3:28-29 as an example.

In Romans 3:28-29, Paul writes 'For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Or [e/eta] is God the God of the Jews only?' Here the particle introduces a logical consequence: if you reject justification by faith, you must accept the absurd conclusion that God is only for Jews. It reinforces the preceding argument by showing the alternative is untenable. The same function applies in 1 Corinthians 14:36 -- rejecting the silence instruction leads to the absurd claim that the word of God originated with the Corinthians alone.
