Pauline style argument for the refutation view: three points that fail
Mike addresses three ways proponents claim Paul would not have said what is in verses 34-35.
Three arguments: (1) It does not seem like something Paul would say -- but this relies on the extreme utter silence interpretation; the judging prophecy view fits Paul's teaching about gender roles in leadership. (2) Gordon Fee argues Paul usually quotes a specific OT passage when referencing 'the law' -- but Mike notes Paul already cited the relevant Genesis passages in 1 Corinthians 11:8-10 and did not need to repeat them. (3) Fee says Paul never appeals to the law as binding on Christian behavior -- but 1 Corinthians 9:8-11 directly contradicts this claim.
