Problems with the 'everyone judges prophecy' view
Mike argues against congregational testing of prophecy.
If everyone tests prophecy, it is unclear how this works practically -- does the congregation vote during a service? More importantly, one of the elder's core jobs was to preserve proper doctrine and confront false claims about Christ or theology. Elders cannot fulfill their doctrinal guardianship role if they are not leading in the testing of prophecy. God established elders as leaders, not mob rule or congregational rule.
