The spectrum: Hard patriarchalists say no women voting, no women bosses, no college professors, no seminary teachers, no politicians, women submitting to men in general. Soft complementarians say the rules only apply to marriage and eldership — nothing extends further. Both extremes make mistakes. Hard patriarchalists overlook scripture examples that violate their rules; soft complementarians ignore that male-female truths do have some societal implications.
