Erring on the 'side of safety' also has consequences: limiting ministry for women and limiting their spiritual development. A culture of restriction creates theologically weaker women. Mike prefers drawing the line closer to the mountain rather than further back. Grace is needed for churches answering these questions differently — it doesn't mean they're automatically liberal or oppressors.
