Paul's love of OT typology supports a typological reading of childbearing

Mike cites 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 where Paul says the Israelites 'all drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.' Paul takes a physical OT element (a rock providing water) and identifies it typologically as Christ. This is a vague, typological reference that parallels the kind of vague Messianic reference Mike sees in 'the childbearing.'
