Application of the Messianic view: women are equal in salvation, different in role

ALL The Debates Over 1 Tim 2_11-15: Women in Ministry part 12 (it took me a year to make this) 10:54:11 – 10:56:14

Mike explains what his preferred interpretation means for the overall passage.

On the Messianic view, verse 15 is Paul's complementarian affirmation: after restricting women from the elder/teaching authority role (vv.11-12) and grounding it in creation (vv.13-14), Paul immediately affirms that women are fully saved — equally coheirs of salvation through the same Messiah. This is characteristic of Paul: whenever he discusses role differences between men and women, he follows with an affirmation of equal value and salvation (see also 1 Cor 11:11-12, Gal 3:28, 1 Pet 3:7). The different role does not imply different value, different salvation, or different inheritance in Christ. Mike notes this pattern is built into the very name 'complementarian' — two complementary truths: different roles AND equal value/salvation.
