Reason 7: Astrological 'snake oil' — rare celestial events exploited as prophetic signs

End of the World Predictions and Why They're Wrong 00:48:26 – 00:49:59

Seventh reason people fall for false predictions.

End-times predictors frequently invoke unusual astronomical alignments (Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, Orion's Belt, etc.) as signs. Mike's response: rare astronomical events happen constantly — 'something will happen in the sky next month that hasn't happened in thousands of years.' Example: the 'blood moons' of 2014-2015 — presented as signs because they fell on Jewish feasts. But the Jewish feasts are set by a lunar calendar, so blood moons (full lunar eclipses) will always fall near feast days. The 'sign' is an artifact of calendar correlation, not a supernatural event. Bible does mention 'signs in the heavens' but uses generic language; that generic language should not be pinned to specific celestial alignments.
