Webster's dictionary definitions of faith: 'allegiance,' 'loyalty,' 'belief and trust in God' — the 'firm belief in something for which there is no proof' definition exists but does not represent biblical Christianity

Please Stop Saying Faith Is Belief Without Evidence 00:38:24 – 00:39:55

Mike examines Webster's multiple definitions of faith.

Webster lists: (1) allegiance/loyalty to a person; fidelity to promises; sincerity of intentions. (2) belief and trust in and loyalty to God; belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion. (3) firm belief in something for which there is no proof. (4) something believed with especially strong conviction. Mike says Christians should use definitions 2A and 2B (trust in God, belief in doctrinal tradition). Definition 3 exists as a valid English usage but is not the Christian use. Skeptics deliberately select definition 3 and staple it to Christianity — which is not accurate to the Bible or historical Christianity.
